Abstract

Reverse engineering is used in sectors such as automotive, defense industry, etc.; mechanical and software engineering, animation and entertainment industry, microchips, chemical products, electronics, pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, biomedicine, clothing, etc. For this reason, the subject is examined in many theoretical and practical studies. However, there is no SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis of reverse engineering in relation to the product produced in the white goods sector. Therefore, the study has a unique value. The scope of the study is the evaluation of reverse engineering in the white goods manufacturing sector. In this sector, the importance of reverse engineering and re-engineering approaches were evaluated on the products produced in the production site of an enterprise- company operating in the Marmara Region. In this subject, firstly the basic concepts are explained. Then, the methods used in reverse engineering applications are briefly mentioned. The study is based on the products produced in the white goods manufacturing sector. In this context, SWOT analysis of the product due to reverse engineering is given to provide the sustainability of the enterprise. Then, the benefits of reverse engineering will be briefly mentioned and the consequences of the absence of this application and approach in terms of the product are examined. An evaluation is presented in the direction of quality improvement with the fishbone diagram. Finally, the study concludes with a conclusion and evaluation.
