The analysis of the synclinal section of Jebel Sour in the High Atlas of Marrakech reveals a Liassic series characterized by fossiliferous limestones, clay and dolomites. Recurring elementary sequences, marked by erosive bases, provide important reference points. This series, composed of intercalated layers of limestone and dolomite with clayey beds, indicates an evolution from the intertidal zone to the supratidal zone. Parallel laminations, dissolution cavities, and desiccation polygons present varied environmental conditions, highlighting the influence of temporary emersions in this marine context. In summary, the study provides valuable insights into the geological processes that shaped Jebel Sour during the Liassic period.
