Abstract

One of the biggest problems of the communication infrastructure is Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). High PAPR value creates a significant problem for systems. The OFDM system, which forms the infrastructure of 4G, also has this disadvantage. Partial transmission sequence (PTS) and selected mapping (SLM) techniques are used to reduce the PAPR effect that negatively affects communication systems. In this paper, PTS and SLM techniques were applied to the OFDM system to reduce the PAPR effect. PAPR performances and bit error rate (BER) performances of the waveforms to which the relevant techniques were applied were examined comparatively. When the results are examined, PAPR and BER performance has increased significantly thanks to the SLM technique, which is a successful approach against the classical OFDM system.
