DC-DC converters are crucial components in various power electronic systems, requiring precise and robust control of output voltage. Sliding Mode Control (SMC) has emerged as a powerful technique for achieving this goal, offering advantages such as fast response, robustness to parameter uncertainties, and disturbance rejection. This paper presents a comprehensive evaluation and analysis of SMC for DC-DC converters. We explore the fundamental principles of SMC, its implementation in DCDC converters, and various types of SMC schemes. We then delve into a detailed analysis of the benefits and challenges associated with SMC, including its effectiveness in voltage regulation, robustness against disturbances, and limitations like chattering. Finally, we discuss open research areas and future directions for SMC in DC-DC converter control.
