Abstract

As a result of the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere caused by various human activities, the artificial increase in the temperature of the near-Earth and solid Earth layers of the atmosphere is referred to as global warming. Global warming has been one of the most important common problems of the whole world, especially in the last century. The effects of climate change caused by global warming are mainly seen in the form of changes in meteorological parameters. In addition, climate change negatively affects elements of the hydrological cycle such as evaporation, agricultural and forest land, and natural plant habitats, and many parameters such as agricultural diversity and productivity. Knowing how temperature, a meteorological parameter and one of the most important indicators of global warming and climate change, has changed from the past to the present helps both to reveal the effects of climate change and to make predictions about future temperature trends. In this context, this study aimed to determine the temporal temperature changes, one of the meteorological parameters, on a regional scale. For this purpose, the monthly minimum temperature, monthly maximum temperature, monthly mean temperature, and annual mean temperature values measured at the Central Meteorological Station of Kastamonu Province between 1992 and 2022 for 30 years were examined. As a result of the study, it can be seen that there is an increasing trend in the maximum temperature as well as fluctuations in the minimum temperature values, especially in recent years. In particular, the average temperature increases observed in recent years reflect the effects of climate change in the region.
