Abstract

Ecological footprint is one of the methods used to leave a more livable world to our next generations where resources are not consumed indiscriminately. The term ecological footprint is defined as the biological water area and fertile soil area required to produce the resources consumed by a community or individual or activity with the developing technology of existing resources and to dispose of the wastes they produce. As in the world, the distribution of ecological footprint in our country differs according to income level. The ecological footprint of high-income individuals is higher than that of low-income individuals. When this situation continues in this way, the inability of our biological resources to renew themselves, the continuous increase in our footprint and the growth of our country as it is today show us that our country's natural resources will rapidly decrease. It poses a great risk for Turkey's economy. Sustainable forms of consumption and production, carrying forward the welfare levels of people, sustaining Turkey's economic activities and protecting our natural resources require the development of multifaceted policies. We will produce solutions to many of the problems we are currently trying to overcome.
